Halleck is an unincorporated community in central Elko County, Nevada, United States. It lies at the interchange of Interstate 80 and State Route 229 northeast of the city of Elko. Its elevation is 5,230 feet (1,594 m). Although it is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code of 89824. The post office was established April 24, 1873; the name originates from Camp Halleck, established July 26, 1867, to protect construction workers on the Central Pacific Railroad, and named for Major General Henry Wager Halleck.
